Eugene Domingo, who has done eight movies this year, feels tired yet very grateful for projects and blessings she continuously receives.

She stars in three Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries this year: “My Househusband...Ikaw Na!,” “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” and “Shake, Rattle and Roll 13.” Her other movies in 2011 are “My Valentine Girls,” “Who’s That Girl,” “Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi,” “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank,” and “Zombadings.”

“Kaya pala pagod na pagod ako!,” Eugene exclaimed in an interview on ABS-CBN's “The Buzz” on Christmas Day.

But she’s not complaining.

Eugene has come a long way since her early days in theater.

Success formula

The top comedienne told “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda that patience in waiting for the right time, gratitude to those who helped her and hard work made her who she is now.

Sabi mo nga, I must have done something good, and I have to embrace and acknowledge that and I thank God for that,” she says.

Eugene adds that she has to make sure she gives different approaches to every role she does. She studies her characters very well, including the costumes she has to wear and the image she has to project.

Kailangang iba-iba din yun,” she relates.

Eugene’s is a comedic role in “My Househusband” and “Enteng ng Ina Mo” while she portrays a serious character in “Shake, Rattle and Roll 13.”

She enjoys working with real-life friends Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo in “My Househusband…Ikaw Na,” where she plays the other woman.

“Talagang tinanggap ko yan because I miss Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. Para sa akin, kung magkakaroon ako ng relasyon or asawa, very ideal sila,” Eugene states.

“Ang Babae sa Septic Tank,” which won her a Best Actress award in Cinemalaya 2010 made it to the short list of films for consideration in the Foreign Language Film category of the 84th Oscar Awards.

No illusions

How does she feel, now that nominees will be announced early next year?

She explains that “Septic Tank” is up against big competitors who spent a lot of money in their campaigns and promotions.

At ang kampanya nila, talagang big time,” Eugene says.

She adds that she is already happy the film got a favorable response from foreign viewers who screened it in Los Angeles.

They are all waiting para makakita pa ng ibang pelikulang Pilipino. Hangang-hanga sila sa pelikulang Pilipino,” she reveals.
