Zanjoe and Bea still Going Strong

Share

Zanjoe Marudo and Bea Alonzo are not following in the footsteps of Derek Ramsay and Angelica Panganiban as well as John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao.
In fact, Zanjoe and Bea’s one-year relationship is stronger than ever.

“Parang pakiramdam ko bago pa lang kami hanggang ngayon. Parang nagsisimula pa rin. Ganoon yung feeling na ayaw naming malayo nang matagal sa isa’t isa. Siguro nag-match talaga,” Zanjoe said at the press conference of his newest TV drama with Megan Young, “My Precious Heart Romance Presents: Hiyas,” on Tuesday, May 22, in ABS-CBN compound.

Learning from Bea

Zanjoe gladly shared how Bea has changed him.

“Dahil kay Bea mas malambing na ako, mas hindi na ako nahihiya magpakita ng feelings. Dati kasi parang hindi ako sanay, hindi ako kumportable. Pero unti-unti naman akong nagiging ganoon kasi hindi lang iyon ang gusto ng mga babae, kung ‘di iyon ang tamang gawin na ipakita yung affection mo.”

He added that the change was not that drastic. Zanjoe said he just knows how to handle a relationship better this time.

“Minsan yung ibang parte lang na natututunan ko na in a way kailangan pala ganito ako o dumiskarte. Hindi totally magbago, may nadadagdag lang na kaalaman pagdating sa pakikipagrelasyon.”

“Hiyas” casts Zanjoe in a daring role as Silang, a warrior  from the Tanah tribe.  He plays opposite Megan Young.

No jealousy issues

Zanjoe says Bea approves of his team-up with Megan, and is not jealous of his new on screen partner. Neither do Zanjoe and Bea meddle with each other’s projects and roles.

“Wala naman kaming pag-uusapan pagdating sa trabaho. Kahit anong role pa iyan, hindi kami yung kailangan mong ipaalam o kailangan mong i-explain ang bawat ginagawa,” he said.

Bea’s reunion team-up with John Lloyd Cruz doesn’t bother Zanjoe at all.
“Kung kilala mo yung tao, kung nagtitiwala ka sa tao, kahit sino pa yung lalaking kasama niya, hindi ba? Kahit anong pilit, kung wala naman talaga. Kase kahit na sabihin mong maniwala ka, two-way naman iyan eh. Ina-assure naman ako ni Bea.”

Showbiz break-ups

Does Zanjoe think being in showbiz makes celebrity couples more susceptible to break-ups?
“Pag hindi naman talaga kayo meant o hindi kayo nagkakaintindihan, hindi talaga kayo magkakatuluyan. Ang problema lang pag nasa showbiz, mas naha-highlight kasi kailangang malaman ng fans, kailangang malaman ng tao,” he replied.

Zanjoe is all praise for Megan, whose professionalism and dedication to their new TV drama impressed him.

“Mararamdaman mo na andoon talaga yung puso niya sa show. Ang sarap makatrabaho ng ganun na yung pareho kayong gustung-gusto ninyo yung ginagawa ninyo. So, mas gaganahan ka.”

Although Zanjoe and Megan have worked together in “Kokey” and “The Wedding”, “Hiyas” marks their first time to be cast as a love team.

The show, whose main hosts are John Estrada, Randy Santiago, Toni Gonzaga, Rico J. Puno and Pokwang, aired its pilot on February 12 last year. An original host, Mariel Rodriguez, had moved to TV5 and is now host of the early evening game show "Wil Time Bigtime."

Other "Happy Yipee Yehey" hosts include John Prats, Matteo Guidicelli, and Bianca Manalo.

"Happy Yipee Yehey" is the second noontime show to be cancelled after Willie Revillame's "Wowowee" had been put off the air over the network's ongoing case against the now TV5 host. The show was preceded by "Pilipinas Win na Win" that was hosted first by Kris Aquino and Robin Padilla then eventually emceed by the Hitmakers Rey Valera, Marco Sison, Nonoy Zuniga and Rico J. Puno.

ABS-CBN issued the following statement, which was sent to Yahoo! Philippines OMG! on Thursday, January 26:

Korean star couple Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young seemed to have parted ways.

K-drama fans will recall that the twosome met and started dating while shooting "City Hunter" six months ago. After today's news, it looks like the hot actor is single once again.
Park Min Young's agency revealed that the couple have parted ways for a while now. Park's agency expressed that due to Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young's busy schedules, they had very limited time to spend with each other causing their relationship to fall apart. Download OPM songs for P20-30 , - legally

Share

Via mb.com.ph
By: Neil Ramos

Local music lovers will now be able to download all the songs they want, legally.

MyMusic Store Philippines, hyped as the first-ever online digital music store in the country, has just been launched recently.

A report on GMA News said that the site has the approval and support of local recording companies and several artists like Bamboo Mañalac, Ely Buendia and Gary Valenciano, as well as the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) and the Optical Media Board (OMB).

It’s all about giving consumer’s a “choice,” says MyMusic Store's Jhanice Reodique.

"Currently, people download pirated [music], torrents. They don't have a choice for legitimate downloads. So now they have a choice," said she via the same GMA News report.

The price of the song downloads, which was agreed upon by MyMusic Store and the record labels, ranges from P20, P25 to P30.

Already, a variety of payment options have been made available for consumers.

"We have mobile payment via Smart. But eventually, we will be offering a MyMusic Store wallet wherein you can purchase credits via LoadCentral using e-pins. You can also use Paypal or your credit card," said Reodique.

Currently, MyMusicStore.com.ph, has over 116,000 songs from 12 of the biggest record companies around the globe.

Mañalac is very vocal of his support of the site.

"It's a way to support OPM. Music is our soul. We gotta pump some money into this," said he in the same report.

He added, "I think it's a great thing. It's due time, finally. I myself am not innocent of downloading; I've done it myself. But I learn from this, from personal experience. When you start downloading stuff, things lose value.

“I just feel that when you personally buy something you really like, you research and you go for it, there's value in that and you really listen to it.”

Also in the works is a download application for Android devices, according to Odette Velarde of Samsung Corporate Marketing, who was also interviewed for the piece.

Team behind 'Annebisyosa' concert confident of Curtis and show's success

Share

Via mb.com.ph
By Punch Liwanag

showbiz.nfo.ph
Hot celebrity Anne Curtis is hard at work preparing for the biggest show of her career. But with more than a week to go before her “No Other Concert” at Smart-Araneta, people are still talking about whether the “No Other Woman” star can rise up to the challenge of a solo concert, especially at such a big venue. All this doubting is rooted in the argument that performing in a concert is entirely different from singing in an album—this, despite the success of Curtis’ debut CD “Annebisyosa,” which saw her fulfilling her long time dream of cutting her own record.

But if there are unbelievers and people waiting on the wings to bash Curtis, there are those who are unwavering in their belief that she can handle, nay, pull-off her first ever solo concert. Indeed, if there is a perceived weakness in her talent in singing, there are other qualities that the feisty Curtis has in abundance.

Mike Rivera, head writer for Anne Curtis’s upcoming concert, observes that, “Everybody wants to have fun with Anne. She’s a performer and an honest one who knows what will entertain people even at her own expense.”

“She’s working hard,” added Rivera, who also said that at the onset of the concert planning, it was Anne who asked to be put through the wringer and for the team to think big when it comes to her production numbers.

“Anne is really going to go for it, as in ‘buwis-buhay’ na. She’s taking this seriously and is even taking time to learn new skills because she wants the Araneta audience to feel that her ‘No Other Concert’ show is worth the time and the ticket.”

Curtis is said to be in the middle of everything when it comes to preparing for the concert, from the songs down to the concept of her numbers. “She listens to the team and has inputs of her own and asks her friends who know her well kung ano ang magandang gawin. She also puts in long rehearsal hours with the dancers and the band and in attending long meetings to make sure that the show would be perfect.”

Careful not to give out too much info about the show’s content, Rivera shared that Curtis’ repertoire would naturally be current and pop. Besides the obvious singing, the feel would be “definitely party-like” and that the productions, he promises,” will be a visual delight.”

“Expect a lot of humor, too, because being a funny girl is one of Anne’s endearing traits,” he noted. The show will also be “hot and sexy, cute and funny and serious and dramatic to show off all the different facets of Anne.”

Rivera also imparted that “Anne Curtis as a celebrity, many women aspire to be like her. As a concert performer, many Pinay women find affinity with her. They give their best [when] faced with a challenge, they celebrate their imperfections because they are comfortable with who they are. I think that’s Anne, too – a performer who knows how to have fun. The whole creative team, headed by Director Rico Gutierrez, acknowledges that.”

Ultimately, do all of this warrant an Anne Curtis solo concert at the historic Big Dome?

“Everyone has what it takes to be a performer who can sing, dance and have fun with a big crowd.” Rivera answered. “Because Anne is Anne Curtis, she can jump right in and do a first concert at the Smart-Araneta right away. No other performer can do a concert like ‘Anne-bisyosa’ can!”

Does she believe then that Curtis can pull it off as a singer and performer?

"Wonderful" is how Sharon Cuneta describes the present state of her daughter KC Concepcion.

The Megastar adds, "So, I'm happy that KC is—obviously, because it didn't work out—she's happier now.

"I'm happy that she is."

It was late last year when KC broke up with Piolo Pascual.

Her confirmation came in form of a tearful interview, which became the most-read story of PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in 2011.

It was a spectacle that most parents wouldn't want to see, and Sharon admits to getting hurt.

On January 11, at the press conference of her upcoming concert with Martin Nievera in Discovery Suites, Sharon says, "Nung natapos at natapos, siyempre masakit ang loob ko dahil umiyak ang anak ko."

But she perfectly understands that relationships either succeed or fail. "Kaya nga, di ba nagiging mag-boyfriend kayo para you try kung puwede o hindi. E, it didn't work out for reasons na kanila na lang 'yon."

And if she has love advice for KC, Sharon tells the press, "Yung sinabi niya na 'Don't let anyone step on you,' lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya yun.

"You can always bend for someone. You cannot allow yourself to break for someone."

SPEAKING OF PIOLO...How did the split change her perception of the actor?

Pokwang welcomes 2012 in new multimillion-peso house

Share

Article from Manila Bulletin
by: Anya Santos

MANILA, Philippines – The year 2011 has been good to Pokwang.

In the first-ever episode of “The Buzz” for the year 2012, Pokwang’s live appearance was accompanied by a video clip of her dream come true for her family—a huge, multi-level modern house in Antipolo, which reportedly costs P30 million, that she was finally able to build from her successful foray into local show business.

On spending New Year’s day with her family in her new house, Pokwang told host Toni Gonzaga, “Napakasaya. ‘Di ba kinukwento ko naman sa inyo araw-araw sa dressing room ng HYY, excited ako dun sa bagong bahay ko kasi first new year [namin doon], lahat? Masaya. Bongga!”

The year that was

Aside from a new home, 2011 also brought Pokwang back to TV via the noontime show “Happy Yipee Yehey” (HYY), and gave her a sitcom, “Toda Max,” with Robin Padilla, Vhong Navarro and Angel Locsin before it ended.

But aside from those highlights, Pokwang said she is most thankful for what her healthy career has afforded her.

“Natupad ‘yung mga pangarap ko. Nabigyan ng disenteng tahanan ‘yung mga mahal ko sa buhay. I mean, ‘yun lang naman talaga ‘yung importante, ‘di ba, ‘yung mga mahal natin, walang masamang mangyayari sa kanila.”

Asked for her New Year’s resolution, she replied, “Dun nga ako nagtataka. Bakit kailangan new year lang natin ginagawa? Pwede namang gawing araw araw ‘yan, ‘di ba?”

The year that will be

This early, Pokwang welcomes 2012 with a stunning milestone—a movie that sees her in her first-ever lead role, Star Cinema and The Filipino Channel’s “A Mother’s Story.”

A tale of an overseas Filipina worker who sacrificed everything for her family, it is something that is close to Pokwang’s heart.

While it wasn’t really based on her personal journey, she nevertheless said, “Nagkataon na ‘yung storya nung pelikula eh talagang hindi nalalayo sa pagiging Marietta Subong [Pokwang’s real name] ko sa totoong buhay, nung OFW ako. Nagpapasalamat naman ako kasi ako talaga yung binigyan nila ng tiwala na gawin ‘tong pelikula”

While “A Mother’s Story” opens locally on Jan. 8, it has already screened abroad, namely in some areas in the US, Canada, London and Milan. “Magaganda talaga ang reaksiyon ng mga kababayan natin. Thank you, thank you,” Pokwang humbly noted.

Close to home

In the interview, Pokwang also shared how much working on the movie stirred deep-seated memories and emotions within her.

Psychics, showbiz experts dish out predictions, forecasts

Article from Manila Bulletin
By: Julien C. Matabuena

MANILA, Philippines – Psychic experts claim that the Year of the Water Dragon will generally be a good one for the local entertainment industry.

For one, many actors and actresses are predicted to bring honor to the country through international recognitions and possible stints in Hollywood.

“Maraming actors and actresses ang nakikita ko [na] would win international awards. And these are the people pa na hindi natin halos napapansin pa rito, or ‘yung mga dark horses na makakapasok o gagawa ng isang proyekto sa Hollywood,” Stargazer told “The Buzz” in a taped interview aired on Jan. 1.

Bro. Mhon Co, for his part, saw a “very vibrant” industry with more “promising developments.” He also felt that “more people will support the Filipino movie industry” this year.

However, he revealed that news about an actress’ first pregnancy will “shock” the public because she will get knocked up not by her boyfriend but by another man.

“Very popular itong dalawang ito. Kinikilala ‘to ng madla eh,” Co added.

Kapamilya stars’ predictions

In the same “Buzz” report, Co and Stargazer aired their predictions on the career and health of some of ABS-CBN’s biggest stars.

For comedian and “Showtime” resident judge Vice Ganda, Co said that his career “will still continue to grow to a larger extent” but was advised to “take care of his health."

"He might be even [rushed to the] hospital [in] the middle of this year," Co claimed.

Things are also looking up for “Star Power” champ Angeline Quinto, as Stargazer predicted her career to remain “okay” because she will be blessed with breaks and more projects “left and right.”

Piolo Pascual, according to Co, will receive more awards this year. He even extended his early congratulations to the actor, saying, “I know someday makikilala ka sa larangan ng iyong pag-arte hindi lang sa Pilipinas kundi sa ibang bansa pa.”

Stargazer encouraged Andi Eigenmann, who took a break from showbiz when she got pregnant, to “bounce back” because “there’s so much waiting for her. She’s gonna be welcomed [back] with open arms.”

Anne Curtis will be able to acquire more properties this year; however, Co warned her of a possible vehicular accident.

Vice Ganda on his grandma's death: 'I lost my smile'

from viceganda.net

MANILA, Philippines – The year 2011 ended on a sad note for Vice Ganda as his beloved grandmother, whom he calls “Mamang,” passed away on Dec. 31.

Vice, who had a successful year with his hit shows and top box-office film “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,” tweeted at around 5:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, “Bye Mamang. Mahal na mahal kita. Dito ka lang sa puso ko hanggang magkasama tayo ulit.”

He followed the post with: “I lost my smile. I'll just find it again. Dnt know how. Dnt know when. But I will. Soon.”

“I bow my head. Close my eyes. Accept thy will. And give you thanks.”

The hit comedian, however, did not disclose the exact cause of his grandmother’s death. Her health, though, had gradually failed in the past few years. She suffered a severe stroke in 2009, and was confined in an intensive care unit last November.

Despite the loss, Vice managed to tell his more than 1.2 million Twitter followers, “Maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. Sa pagmamahal, suporta at pag-unawa. Happy New Year!”

The “Showtime” main judge emotionally talked about his “Mamang” in his interview on “The Buzz,” New Year’s Day. According to one of Vice’s tweets, the interview was taped “a few days ago.”

This is the gist of GMA-7's public statement about the civil case filed by ABS-CBN against ratings service provider AGB Nielsen.

The statement, which came from Kapuso network corporate communications consultant Butch Racquel, was sent in the form of a press release to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) this afternoon, December 28.

The press release singles out a statement that it says the Kapamilya network often includes in its press releases about ratings (itals provided):

"ABS-CBN shifted to Kantar Media/TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court."
