LONDON (AFP) – Actress Emma Thompson led a pig down a blue carpet for the world premiere in London of her new film "Nanny McPheeand The Big Bang."
Thompson, who wrote and starred in the sequel to "Nanny McPhee", was joined by other cast members including US actress Maggie Gyllenhaal for the Leicester Square screening on Wednesday.
The film tells how the magical nanny helps a mother who is struggling to run a farm and look after her children while her husband is at war.
Gyllenhaal, who plays mother Isabel Green, praised Thompson, saying: "I'm her biggest fan and I know I'm not alone in thinking she is a brilliant genius."
Describing the challenges of making the film in Britain, director Susanna White said: "It was probably slightly crazy to work with children, animals, CGI and the British weather."
Comedian Bill Bailey joked that his animal co-stars were experienced actors who were unfazed by the prospect of appearing on the silver screen.
"These were proper stage pigs who had been in films before so they were all a bit blase really," he said.
