"Wonderful" is how Sharon Cuneta describes the present state of her daughter KC Concepcion.

The Megastar adds, "So, I'm happy that KC is—obviously, because it didn't work out—she's happier now.

"I'm happy that she is."

It was late last year when KC broke up with Piolo Pascual.

Her confirmation came in form of a tearful interview, which became the most-read story of PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in 2011.

It was a spectacle that most parents wouldn't want to see, and Sharon admits to getting hurt.

On January 11, at the press conference of her upcoming concert with Martin Nievera in Discovery Suites, Sharon says, "Nung natapos at natapos, siyempre masakit ang loob ko dahil umiyak ang anak ko."

But she perfectly understands that relationships either succeed or fail. "Kaya nga, di ba nagiging mag-boyfriend kayo para you try kung puwede o hindi. E, it didn't work out for reasons na kanila na lang 'yon."

And if she has love advice for KC, Sharon tells the press, "Yung sinabi niya na 'Don't let anyone step on you,' lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya yun.

"You can always bend for someone. You cannot allow yourself to break for someone."

SPEAKING OF PIOLO...How did the split change her perception of the actor?

"I have loved Piolo," she throws in before a brief pause.

But despite what happened, the multi-awarded actress-singer still has respect for Piolo.

"I still respect him as an actor.

"I respect the fact na alam mo yung nagsikap para marating ang narating niya.

"I respect that in a person.

"So, kung sa ganung punto, wala akong problema.

"Ang importante, they've worked things out on their own."

KC'S CAREER MOVE. After the split, rumors about the 26-year-old Kapamilya's transfer to TV5 surfaced.

This came on the heels of Sharon's contract-signing with TV5 last November 22.

But KC chose to stay with ABS-CBN—a decision that still got the nod of her famous mom.

The 46-year-old Kapatid reveals, "You know, since the very beginning, halos hindi ako nakikialam sa career niya.
"Lahat ng desisyon niya sa buhay niya, siya talaga ang gumawa.

"Ako, ang name ko papasok pa lang pag may troubleshooting na kailangan.

"Pero ito, she met with Boss Vic [del Rosario]. Boss Vic has artists with ABS like Anne Curtis and Sarah, of course, Geronimo...

"She's in very good hands. She's with boss Vic now.

"So at least sa gano'ng paraan, maski pa'no, makikibalita ako tungkol sa kanya."

Sharon knows how much support KC got from Star Magic, and for this, the mother is very grateful.

The Megastar says, "Ang importante, kung saan ka masaya. So, she was still happy with ABS-CBN.

"And I think, ang pag-alis niya ng Star Magic, to me, siguro—although mahal na mahal siya ni Mr. M [Johnny Manahan] saka ni Tita Mariole [Mariole Alberto]—I think it was just right, para mawalan na ng intriga dahil mahirap yung hina-handle sila pareho ni Piolo ng iisang kumpanya, di ba?

"Para mawala na lang lahat ng questions in the future, yung magkaroon...

"Mawala yung mga questions on conflict interest o kaya di raw pina-prioritize, di ba?

"Kaya minabuti na rin namin."

She reiterates that her eldest is "happy with ABS-CBN...kahit naman ako happy with ABS-CBN, e."

And if she has one career advice to give KC: "Ang sabi ko, I also said to her na 'Always look at the option, and then the time.' Yun lang 'yon. Then whatever makes you happy."

Veteran entertainment columnists Alfie Lorenzo and Mario Bautista bring up the quite-unhurried pace of KC's career.

Before they could elaborate on it, Sharon quickly says, "Please naman give my daughter, kumbaga...Give her a chance because she has her own thing going."

She also stresses that KC is "not following a mold," then adds, "huwag naman, may talent naman yung bata."

The follow-up question: Isn't her status in showbiz affecting KC's growth?

To this, Sharon answers, "No, I think that's unfair. I thing pag alam nilang apelyido lang ang pareho, bibigyan naman ng pagkakataon kung anong mabibigay ng taong 'yon.

"Give KC naman a chance."

Any possibility of doing a movie with her daughter?

"Parang it's not a priority. Mas malinaw yung Sharon-Gabby.

"Mas malamang na matuloy kasi, at this point, director na ang pinag-uusapan natin, di ba."

But one thing that's for sure, the Megastar says, she and her daughter are now "closer together."

During the Yuletide break, Shawie (her nickname) had the time to bond with her panganay in Japan, where the whole family spent Christmas with the Pangilinans...

Then Hongkong, where they greeted the New Year with the Megastar's mom, Elaine Cuneta.

"She's wonderful...She's happier. She's been okay for a while," says Sharon about KC.
