An official website for idol band A.N.JELL from hit SBS series "You're Beautiful" has been launched.

Starting this Monday, March 22, TV5 viewers will be treated to four top-rating and most sought-after Korean drama titles on its noontime block called "Gusto ko Noon!" led by the quirky comedy My Wife is a Superwoman, the romantic drama First Wives Club, the heartwarming drama Smile, Honey, and popular family-teen comedyHigh Kick!

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked TV5 why they decided to offer these top-rating Koreanovelas during the noontime block.


"It's actually the strategy of TV5 to do counter-programming. When everyone else is going high-energy with noontime shows, here we are offering the best titles of Koreanovelas on noontime. Parang yun ang magiging primetime namin. We want to provide an alternative."

TV5 tapped local singers to perform the theme songs of their chosen Koreanovelas. Kris Lawrence sang "Suddenly," the theme song of First Wives Club; Chicosci sang "Diamond Shotgun" for High Kick; Krissy and Ericka sang "Runaway" for Smile Honey; while Sabrina performed "A Thousand Miles," the theme song of My Wife is a Superwoman.

K-pop artist Rain will soon visit Japan as he gets ready to wrap up his Asia tour, according to his agency J.Tune Entertainment.

The artist will hold the 'Legend of Rainism Asia Tour Japan Final' at the Yoyogi Gymnasium in Japan on April 17 and 18, the last of his shows which kicked off in Hong Kong last November.

The singer-actor will then return to Korea where he will make a comeback to the local music scene with a new mini-album in April.

Moon Geun young in Cinderella's sister

MBC’s Dong Yi comes out the same day as SBS’s Oh! My Lady, albeit an hour later in the regular prime-time slot. These new posters feature Dong Yi’s lead actress in the title role, Han Hyo-joo. In reference to her character’s initial status as a water maid in the palace, the main poster above shows Han standing on water.

In the second poster below, the rest of the main cast is pictured, including King Suk-jong (Ji Jin-hee), the ambitious concubine Lady Jang (Lee So-yeon), Dong-yi’s devoted Chun-soo (Bae Soo-bin), police officer Seo Yong-ki (Jung Jin-young), and the queen (Park Ha-sun).

Synopsis:

Set during the reign of King Sukjong in the Joseon dynasty, the story focuses on Dong Yi, a water maid who gains the trust of Queen Inhyeon and later the favour of the king when he is moved by her prayers for the health of the Queen during the court disputes caused by Jang Hee Bin. Dong Yi becomes a concubine with the rank of sook-bin and bears a son who will later become the 21st king of Joseon, Yeongjo.

Korean actor Yoon Sang-hyeon seems to be making headway in expanding his presence in Japan with two more of his dramas set to air in the country starting next month, according to his agency MGB Entertainment on Tuesday.

MGB explained in a press release that in addition to MBC TV series "Winter Bird" currently being broadcast on BS Asahi, Yoon's hit shows "Queen of Housewives" ("My Wife is a Superwoman") will show on LaLaTV beginning April 24 and "My Fair Lady" on an all-Korean drama channel in Japan two days ahead.

"Winter Bird", which began its run in early January this year, has been scoring the highest number of hits on BS Asahi's website for months and is ranked third amongst Asian dramas on a chart by Tsutaya, Japan's largest rental DVD, CD, game and bookstore.

Top Korean actress Kim Nam-joo starrer "My Wife is a Superwoman" was a smash hit during its run early last year, making Yoon a household name and "My Fair Lady", Yoon's most recent drama also starring Yoon Eun-hye, was also received favorably by viewers.

An official at Yoon's Japanese management agency the showing of all three shows is expected to help promotion of the actor's album which is set to go on sale in the country later this month.

Yoon had represented Korea at the Asian music festival PAX MUSICA 2009 held in Tokyo last November, performing a total of three songs including "Neverending Story" which he sang in "My Wife is a Superwoman".

Yoon, 36, made his debut in 2005 through SBS TV drama "To Marry a Millionaire". He currently stars on the second season of the variety show "Family Outing".

The “Cinderella’s Sister” (KBS) heroine, Moon Geun-young, went to the hospital with a manager and was diagnosed with hepatitis A and is currently receiving treatment.

As the disease can easily put anyone out of commission, the cute and bubbly sister will have to take a mandatory break from filming, while the rest of the cast members are continuing to film without her in preparation for the premier broadcast on March 31st. “Cinderella’s Sister” includes recently returned from the military Chun Jung-myung, Seo Woo, and 2PM member Teacyeon.

Already a representative has stated, “Moon Geun-young’s health has recovered a lot,” and “Two days from now, she  will be back on the filming set.”

Korean actor Kim Nam-gil [Star J Entertainment]

Korean actor Kim Nam-gil will be appearing in TV series "Bad Man" until August although he is expected to enter the Korean military in June, according to his agency Star J Entertainment on Thursday.

Star J explained in a press release that the actor will wrap up shooting for "Bad Man" before joining the army sometime after late June where he will start undergoing training as a public service worker to fulfill Korea's mandatory military service.

"Bad Man", a 20-episode SBS drama which will premiere on May 26, is set to air until the first week of August.

The actor, who will play the lead role in the Wednesday and Thursday series, recently returned to Korea after finishing shooting on location in Japan last month and is set to start filming again after mid-March.

Kim, 28, became a household name last year playing the role of Bidam in MBC's historical drama "Queen Seon-deok".

He is scheduled to hold a fan meeting at Seoul's Olympic Park Olympic Hall on March 7, which will be attended by some 4,000 fans.

These photos are taken from the shooting location at Kyunggi-do’s “Petite France” (which used to be the shooting grounds for Beethoven Virus) and are described as a “date,”

The drama began its first shoots on February 28 following an overnight retreat attended by the main cast and production team as a working trip and bonding event. (Attendees: Sohn Ye-jin and Lee Min-ho, of course, as well as Kim Ji-suk, Wang Ji-hye, Jung Sung-hwa, and the rest.) On February 24, the group shot the drama’s titles in the morning and then headed to Pocheon by dinnertime. Afterward, the actors, director, and writer gathered round for a script discussion and rehearsal. Following that, the participants loosened up the atmosphere with some drinks and levity late into the night. (Lee Min-ho is reportedly a weak drinker, but stuck around through the end.)

Song Hye-gyo is currently in China working on her next role in The Grand Master, the martial arts movie directed by renowned Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai, and will apparently be displaying some “real action” skills in the film.

The Grand Master stars Tony Leung as Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man, and also features Chang Chenand Zhang Ziyi. Each of the actors has been outfitted with specialized protective gear that has been made especially for this film, to prevent injury while upping the realism of the fight scenes. The guards are made of silicone and fitted to each actor’s body to move with them and, as they are lightweight, remain undetected underneath clothing. As Song Hye-gyo is reportedly using these guards in filming, we can look forward to seeing her in action. (It’ll be an interesting sight, that’s for sure; Song has always been known for her femininity and beauty, so a martial arts action film will be a complete turnaround from her existing image.)

Song has been traveling back and forth between Korea and China since December, and has been diligently practicing her Chinese language and martial arts skills. The Grand Master recently began filming, and is planning for a release in the second half of next year.

Over the weekend, actor Gong Yoo held his first fanmeeting in Japan in three years; it follows his recentSeoul event in January which was his first fan event following his army discharge in December. There were actually two events, one in Kobe on the 26th and another in Yokohama on the 28th. The affair was titled “Gong Yoo Fanmeeting 2010 — With YOO.”

Prior to the meeting, Gong Yoo spoke to reporters and explained, “Things haven’t been decided yet, but I’m currently thinking of a next project that’ll be good enough to satisfy fans. I’d like to take a film role first, then do a drama for the fans.”

His Korean fanmeeting in January had a decent attendance size of 1,000, but these were even larger with an attendance of 5,000. The following photos are taken from the meeting with reporters preceding the Sunday event in Yokohama.
